This statue from the Unified Silla Dynasty period is a three-story stone statue built on a double stone pedestal.
A small stone plate is inserted in the middle of each facet of the upper pedestal. The four corners of the core stones are carved like pillars and the roof stones have 5 layers.
Also, each facet of the upper pedestal has a beautiful ansang (elephant face shape carved on the stone surface) and the pagoda has noban (roof-shaped stone) and boju (ball-shaped or marble-shaped stone) at the very top.
The pedestal was assembled with eight wall stones and a pillar carved on each corner of the pedestal. The overall level of the style and architectural techniques used in this pagoda is lower than that of the East Three Story Stone Pagoda in Suljeong-ri. Both were built during the Unified Silla Dynasty period but the West Pagoda is presumed to be built a bit later.
