This is a ice storage facility (binggo) that is presumed to be built during the Joseon Dynasty period. It is presumed as such because the architectural style and ice storing custom were very standard and popular during the Joseon Dynasty period. This ice storage is covered with well-preserved earth and it has a shape of an ancient tomb. The storage lies long from north to south parallel in front of a small stream.
The entrance is located to the south and the ceiling was constructed by stacking long stones. The ceiling also has two ventilation holes.
The walls were built with ordinary stones but they were cut and polished to make the surfaces flat. This ice storage has the typical architectural style of an ice storage, which can also be found in the ice storage in Gyeongju or Andong but this ice storage in Changnyeong is slighter smaller than the two.
On the statue which lies on the right of the ice storage, says “崇禎紀元後再壬戌二月初一日女四月初十日畢” which means that the construction began on the first of February in the 18th year (1842) of Joseon King Yeongjo’s reign and ended in April of the same year. (length= 13.05m, height= 4.75m, width= 4.65m)
